so here goes... The Catholic church at its best! if you spend the time reading the article you'll get this story....basically a 9 year old girl in Brazil has a horrible stepfather who rapes her, and she gets pregnant with twins...this in turn causes major health problems, not only is she NINE YEARS OLD YOU SICK BASTARD, but she's having twins. The doctors she visits decide her health is in jeopardy (really?!?! she's nine and has 2 babies starting to grow in her) so an abortion is the course of action they recommend. Why is this? well the girl is 9, probably going to die trying to keep these babies to term, and there is a slim to none chance either of the babies will survive AND the icing on the cake is that she was RAPED to become impregnated... This just happens to be that 1 in a billion chance that I've been waiting for to show the truly idiotic colors of the catholic church and its following (affectionately known as suckers to me, sorry bros).... So what do the leaders sent from God do in this HIGHLY Roman Catholic church town do? They contact the Vatican, because in all its wisdom you know that the Vatican ALWAYS makes the correct choices (aaaaaaaahahahahhaa c'mon I was laying on the sarcasm thick there, I hope you got it).... So the Vatican sends word that the family of the 9-year-old are being excommunicated because of their decision to have the child have an abortion, AND not only that, the doctors who performed the abortion are excommunicated as well! I mean this is simply briiiiilliant... the country with the most Catholics in the world, ~75% catholic so nearly 150 million catholics (I believe Brazil's total population is nearing 200 million), which has already outlawed abortion EXCEPT IN SITUATIONS OF RAPE OR WHEN A MOTHER'S LIFE IS IN DANGER, has proven that nothing can be done right for the Vatican...so let's break this down a bit... Here are some population stats/catholic adherent stats ...this shows that Brazil is 86.5% catholic while Italy is over 97%....yet the last I knew Italy had a NEGATIVE GROWTH RATE -.019% and a 62% rate of contraceptive use (thanks HPA 420) which is ASTOUNDING for the MOST CATHOLIC nation in the world...

edit: to the above part on contraceptives I mention this because it is against catholic dogma to use contraceptives, "unless for the sole purpose of preventing STDs"... so a negative growth rate and a % of contraceptive use is fairly astounding especially among married couples in a 97% catholic nation...

So what am I getting at with all this? Catholic beliefs are outdated, just like polytheism was outdated during the Roman empire, now the Roman Catholic beliefs are obsolete, when you do shit like this, you make a mockery of your entire religion AND ruin relationships with a country that has the highest catholic population in the world. They've already done basically everything you want, making abortion illegal except in the most profound situations (which is my belief as well, don't be hating just because I is from da UK, I am pro-life and don't forget it.) But one of these situations arises and it is not only due to rape but the mother's life is in danger AND SHE'S 9 and what does the Catholic church do? Excommunicate away...I mean sure, if I was the pope, I'd excommunicate people like crazy, just because I could, but when you do it in this situation citing the teachings of God/Jesus/Mary/Paul/Peter whoever it is those damn suckers really worship then you know the church is dead f'ing wrong. No truly omniscient god would EVER judge these people the way the church has, and I know I wouldn't.... so let's all just accept that Catholicism is the equivalent of Commodore 64, and we as a people should be using i7's...give up on your obsolete and ignorant systems, you're wasting your brain, time, and money...

Sorry this has been so long winded, feel free to leave enraged comments, I love a good debate..and suckers is not meant to be derrogatory, it's just a pet name lol...

Tell your friends,

Seth

AAAAAAAAAh these days...

Ok recent news..I got a new laptop while still at Penn State which I recently spilled a vodka and gatorade on while in Atlantic City.. Now the left side of my keyboard types extremely oddly and stickily even though I tried to clean it up immediately.. Anyhow I am now thinking that working at Fairmount is a terrific experience for me, even though I haven't gotten to talk to my amazing girlfriend Kim (of three years, woot, way out of my league), for far to long, because I am now getting a completely new perspective on behavior health and the likes. I have always felt any type of addiction is solely the user's responsibility and it's their fault if they can't stop. I am beginning to realize that these are diseases and regardless of the willpower behind you there is a point where it becomes physical and motivational outside of one's mind. This is a bit of a kick in the ass to me and I think my perspective has changed enormously. Anyone who has the opportunity should take it and be in this type of environment so you can learn of true behavior health. Other than that, I'm not sure what this post is for, hopefully I'll post again soon. Not like searching a few words then getting images related to them, but searching with an image, for similar images or descriptions of the images etc. Well here comes Google getting one step closer to my idea and it just makes me sad lol...well I guess happy because this will be a helpful feature on searches, but it still isn't exactly what I was thinking... So thanks Google for discouraging my creativity once again as well as proving that, when I sit and think of random ideas figuring I'll one day get rich, I'm really just wasting my time. Anyhow class starts in a bit and I'd like to mosey across campus today (and everyday)...oh and here is the link .. also interesting news I just saw - the colossal squid is finally going to be unfrozen and studied, yey!!! Ok well I have an O-chem test today that I should be studying for, so I'll catch ya later.
Tell your friends - Seth

It's been a long time...shouldn't have left you...

oh I'm laughing at myself already because of the title...sooo many things to bitch about here..from social security and healthcare to chocolate rain and back to the presidential election...First things first. I haven't posted in ages because of business, lack of motivation, and plain laziness..sorry if any of you minded. Not a whole lot has happened, the new semester started, christmas passed by, and a new year began, but nothing too groundbreaking. Now to some ranting...
The last few days I've been watching a ton of major viral videos that I've yet to see (southpark inspired me to do this sadly) and I have to say that "Chocolate Rain" was catchy as hell, and had some interesting lyrics. BUT. I watched a video that was said to tell the true meaning of the lyrics which really just pissed me the hell off. Basically it claimed that Tay is talking about racism, how it will exist for at least another 100 years, and history books say it won't happen again, blah blah etc. etc... Now I'll try not to be completely ignorant here, but honestly we all know racism still exists but it pisses me the hell off when the finger is always pointed at us (Fat polish kids is who i'm referring to here, OH!). It seems to always be fine if a white person is called a "cracka" or if a black person calls another black person something that would normally be considered racist, and it is ok for there to be black only groups/clubs or w/e but it isn't for whites to do the same b/c it would be considered racist (i'd consider them both racist.). And now we've gotten to the point where affirmative action is basically screwing white people over not only in the workplace, but at universities, standardized tests, and probably some other stuff I don't feel like thinking of at the moment... Many universities now have "quotas" to fill, a % of each race they must have in order to meet certain board set standards. This is complete bull bc it should simply be about the most qualified, regardless of race, this is basically a passive type racism toward the majority (currently whites in america), and racism is racism regardless of who it is toward. So all in all the point of the rant here is, hey, we're getting screwed just as often as you, you just don't seem to realize it, and you're allowed to do the screwing half the time. I guess that'll end the current rant, and I apologize to anyone that is offended, I'm not sure what you'd be offended by but let me know and i'll try to make it as unoffensive as possible lol... I guess that's it..see ya...
Oh and I'll end this with a super cool quote by me, that will one day be famous (every single one of these will be one day)..

"If you're having trouble falling asleep, stay awake."

- Seth Radz

Trikes, why?

Ok this a completely (almost) factless post that really is for comment purposes only. Sure I may comments like " damn you're such a homo" and such but, no one realizes how recently gays have just gotten their rights. It was only 4 years ago when Lawrence v Texas hit the supreme court and it was made illegal to have state laws that persecute homosexuals (it was upheld in the supreme court for a Georgia case in 1986..Bromer v Georgia? I can't remember and I dont' want to look it up..). It was just recently made illegal here in the U.S. and that is just insane. The case all started because (this is all my guessing which I naturally assume to be 100% truth) a neighbor knew they were homosexual and being intimate and decided to call the police and say they "heard" a gunshot. There, of course, was not a gunshot but, it was reason enough to get the police to break the door down and enter the apartment and catch them being "intimate". So this has just baffled me and is so surprising seeing the controversy over Dumbledore, the headmaster at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series, being gay. 1ST I loved Dumbledore. 2ND I don't give a damn if he was gay or not in the book he was amazing. 3rd it is a novel, not real life and you have to get used to the fact that ~10% of the world population is gay (up from the 6% I was told at about the age of 13). Persecuting homosexuals is just as bad as being sexist or racist but, it seems that no one realizes this because everyone is still stuck on their prejudices of the past. But I guess this is how it always is and we just need to wait for the world to change. Props Mayer...we're just waiting on the world to change (sure you were talking politically, but hate involves everyone..)... Well that's it for tonight, let me end with saying Vista x64 and dual processors are amazing... next blog will probably be on the ole global warming topic..I watched "An Inconvenient Truth" and I think I just have to say something about it.. till then, Tell Your Friends.. - Seth

Reply to WiC

I'm the definition of a consumer so, since you recommended the book, I'm buying it on Amazon.com . Word of mouth baby, it drives true businesses. Anyhow my only reasoning behind China not being a superpower yet is the fact that their economy isn't free "enough" to make their GDP nearly as high as the U.S. GDP (around 15 trillion I think). Below is a Per Capita breakdown of domestic product throughout the world (love the color code):

That is per capita which shows basically the U.S. and Scandinavia killing the rest of the world (I think Norway is the only country to beat the U.S. off and on in Per Capita GDP which comes in around 44k usually).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28nominal%29
That's a link to just raw GDP - I was off by a bit I guess it's only 13.2 tril for the U.S. but, I swear my poli sci prof gave me a current national budget proposal (for 2007/2008) that lists our GDP at 14.7). As you can see the E.U. beats the U.S. but who's that really kidding they're less united than our 13 colonies were with the Articles of Confederation.

Also if you look at the pretty color code for national defense spending the U.S. is the only one to spend over 500 Billion yearly (that is just insane) and there are only a few countries spending over 100 billion. China will be a superpower within the next 10 or 20 years, as will India I think; but, for now I believe the U.S. stands alone. That isn't to say that if we somehow got in a war with China they wouldn't kick our asses (well I'm not sure they would because our air force simply rapes theirs) but I think that a large scale war between any powerful country these days would be short lived because of the known M.A.D. (mutually assured destruction) of a nuclear war. The days of good ole warfare and stratergery are gone really and now we're in a constant state of cold war.. and yes I said stratergery i just like the word... And I don't really mean warfare is good, and it is kind of old and I did just google WWI last weekend and read waaaay too much about it and I also got sidetracked and learned basically the entire genealogy of the Greek royal family..but I digress.
China could be a true superpower but it definately will be in the years to come as well as, I believe, India (this is due basically to the shear number of people and economic explosion both countries have had-4th and 12th in rank of GDP respectively). Thanks for the comment Jon, took me ages to finally see it, but at least now I know there are upwards of 3 people reading this :)
Tell your friends - Seth

It's been awhile..already..

Well it's been awhile, I'm losing any consistency I've ever had, if I ever had any. You are given three opportunities, the question is repeated for you and you just CAN'T ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION. This is what pisses me off these days. Every candidate loves to turn every single question into a resume contest. Shut the hell up and answer the questions. If we wanted to know what you've done earlier in your life we'd probably just google you. These days with scandal and frivolous accusations everywhere there is nothing that keeps us believing what politicians say. I've watched a couple debates, a few videos online, and read a bunch of articles in newspapers about the current primary race but, none of these things can really be thought of as fact because more often than not the media is trying to put their own more interesting twist into the story. But after whatever I've seen and read I've realized that the guy I seem to like most and who actually knows his shit and doesn't seem to be lying out his ass or dodging questions all the damn time is Ron Paul. Check out the video below and you'll see a little of what I'm talking about and to learn more just google him.

Ah wasn't that great? It's a game based on the fact that the Cold War never ended, the Berlin Wall never came down, and Russia (Soviet Union) invaded the western coast of the United States starting with Seattle. Interesting plot for a video game but, even more interesting if you think about the possibility that this very easily could have happened. What if Communist Russia still was communist? Which automatically makes me think of economies (I'm sorry I don't know why, communism just drives me to economics). Why is it that communism usually fails? My opinion? Someone isn't running the government right. Communism is perfect on paper, yet it just doesn't work. Main reason? The governments usually force the economy to be a command market (completely controlled by the government and/or supply and demand at the governments disgression) as apposed to a free market. China is realizing this today and is slowly moving towards a freer market economy. My next thoughts, would Russia still be a superpower had they realized this and tried to make Communism actually work? What would the world be like when there are still two true superpower countries... Another reason Communism fails is because while certain leaders are trying to start a revolution *cough* Lenin, Stalin *cough* there are all those false promises you hear from every official trying to win his country over *cough* Bush *cough*; yet, once these dictators came into power the complete socialist belief that won the people over meant nothing to them personally. Do you think they lived on the same income they tried to give every other person in the Soviet Union? I doubt it, although I really don't know... But hey, let's bring this back home a bit more. Bush loves those tax cuts doesn't he? Who do they help? certainly not the middle class but, he did give the tax breaks he promised which actually makes me angry. He insisted on giving tax breaks to those people that really didn't need them AND this caused (not solely of course) the US budget to continue into a deeper and deeper deficit. And you know those Bushs' brilliant ideas, let's take some money out of the social security fund and make the budget look more balanced every year. We'll only look to be 200 billion in the red instead of 400 billion and who cares we'll be gone in a few years anyway. So now what is one of the hot topics? Social Security of course. I liked the old Gore plan, sure it probably wouldn't have lasted much past 2040 or 2050 but, let's just lock down that S.S. money and not touch it I mean c'mon either way we're going to pay for it in the long run. I'm getting a bit tired now so I'll finish this rant another time and I'll have some solid numbers on those tax cuts. /EndRant

Tell your friends

The Beginning

This is the beginning of a semi-political, semi-current event based blog. It's a little late, but after watching the latest democratic debate on MSNBC I decided I should voice my opinions. If this blog becomes popular enough I'll eventually start up www.politicsinanutshell.com but that will be decided by those of you reading this (if there are any of you). Anyone may feel free to e-mail me with their opinions and I'll post replies and those comments that are the most thought provoking. That's all for now, I'll be updating this with my roommate Sam and we'll probably alternate posts. So tell your friends
